Late in the evening on Sunday, October 1, 2017 a gunman shot and killed 58 people and injured 500+ concert attendees in Las Vegas, NV. The shooter used his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel to fire down onto the crowd of concertgoers. The Las Vegas attack is now the single worst mass-shooting in American history. On February 14, 2018 17 students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL were killed when a gunman entered their school and started shooting. 16 additional students received non-fatal injuries during the attack. Given these events, please answer the following question: 1. Should lawmakers in Washington, DC and at the state level of government work to pass additional restrictions on the ability for Americans to purchase and own guns? WHY or WHY NOT
